The IPL technology addresses hair reduction by delivering short pulses of light to hair follicles. The wavelengths of light emitted by the IPL device are then absorbed by melanin, the pigment in hair that gives it its colour. This triggers the hair to enter the resting phase, causing it to fall out. Over time, less hair grows in the areas to which the IPL treatment is applied. Laser hair removal is pain-free and the side effects are minimal.

The hair in the body needs to go through a cycle to show improvements. It takes about 3 treatments in one area to see results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does IPL work to remove hair?

How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the area of treatment, the IPL process can take 15 to 60 minutes each time.
Does it hurt?
Generally, the pain is minimal and is compared to a minute stinging pain.
Who cannot do IPL?
There are a few groups of people who are not advised to do IPL hair removal.

1. People who have deeper skin tones.
Since pulsed light and laser target melanin, your skin may be at risk of becoming accidental targets which can lead to burns or pigmentation.

2. People with light hair
IPL requires melanin to absorb the light. With light hair on treatment areas, the light is not absorbed and therefore is not effective.

3. Pregnant women
Due to the lack of research done on the effect of laser, it is generally advised for pregnant women to avoid laser hair removal treatment.

4. People with certain skin conditions
IPL may make you more photosensitive which can be counterproductive in reducing hair production.
