Our Inmode Lumecca No-Hair device is a 2-in-1 machine that can help treat rosacea as well as unwanted body hair. With different settings on the same device, it can help reduce the redness from rosacea as well as target removing unwanted hair follicles.
Understanding the Hair Cycle
(a) Anagen (Growth Phase)
About 90% of the hair on the body is inactive growth at any given time. This phase can last up to 10 years for follicles on the scalp but as short as a few months for eyelashes and body hair. Hairs in the anagen phase can be targeted for laser hair removal.
(b) Catagen (Involution Phase)
About 1% of the body and head is in this stage. The involuting stage means the cells stop dividing and the hair shafts stop growing. The shaft separates from all the connective tissues around it and lifts up, slightly out of the follicle.
(c) Telogen (Rest Phase)
The remaining 9% of the hairs are in this stage where the hair shaft is still present within the follicle but is not growing and can easily be displaced by a new hair growth as the follicle reenters the Anagen phase.
The Science Behind Lumecca No-Hair
The intense pulsed light, IPL, causes the melanin in the hair shaft to absorb the light which is then transformed to heat. The heat is conducted to the surrounding follicular cells and damages them. This technology disintegrates the red-brown pigments in the skin.
With IPL Lumecca, the laser and body response is immediate and improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin can be seen after just 1 treatment.
Benefits of Inmode Lumecca No-Hair
- You can expect to see results in as little as 1-2 treatments and will require half as many treatments using Lumecca IPL than typical IPL machines.
- With an ergonomically designed handpiece, it allows for easy navigation around the face and body no matter the area of treatment.
- Lumecca has a strong sapphire cooling function gives the skin a comfortable light treatment without burning it.
- With IPL Lumecca having the highest peak power and longer pulses, there is a reduced occurrence of experiencing perifollicular erythema/oedema. This is a side effect of using IPL lasers where the treatment zones experience hyperpigmentation and vesticulations post-treatment.
When treating the vessels, it is vital to have a machine that has longer pulses. Shorter pulses increase the risk of purpura. Purpura is blood spots that occur when small blood vessels burst, causing blood to pool under the skin and produce red-purple spots on the skin. With longer pulses, just like in Lumecca IPL, it reduces the risk of these spots.
After the treatment, you can expect your skin to be red and inflamed for the first 24-48 hours. Hair growth will occur at a much slow pace, producing thinner, and lighter hair until eventually producing no hair at all.
With any treatment, you run a risk of developing adverse impacts. Therefore, it is important to choose a device and clinic that can provide you with the best possible results suitable for your skin and body.
